All your photos of your Dobermann’s are so beautiful. I’m really excited to giving one a home some day soon I hope 🤞 May I ask most Dobermann look very slim in build & some look a little skinny which is fine but can they have a bit more weight on them or is that not healthy for them ? Appreciate any feedback thanks 🙏 ... See MoreSee Less

[PICTURE FOR ATTENTION ONLY] Is there anybody here with experience of both German Shepherd and Doberman in a family environment who can comment on similarities and differences, please? We currently have two female German Shepherds (ages 13 years & 5 years, both working line dogs) as family pets since puppies, with the element of family guarding/protection that is standard with the breed. We have a securely fenced 0.5 acre garden, in which the GSDs spend most of their time. Before getting the younger of those dogs I had considered a Belgian Malinois (Belgian Shepherd) but, following a long discussion with an experienced handler who had trained many of both breeds for security work (not our goal), and thus understood breed traits well, decided to stick with the German Shepherd. We have decided to get a male puppy as a companion and support dog for my 13 years daughter, who is autistic and suffers badly with anxiety (although I also have a 10 year old daughter) and after lots of research we are interested in a Doberman.I've read lots, and watched lots of videos about Doberman, but there really is no substitute for speaking with owners before taking the plunge. I want us to give the puppy a loving forever home, not take it for a short test drive!
