Firstly, thank you to the Dobermann Club for the invitation to judge at this show, secondly to my stewards who helped the day run smoothly. The clash of shows rather diminished the entry so thank you to those who did manage to attend both.
I have been concerned when watching the breed from the sidelines or when stewarding that heads are becoming a little heavy. Please remember that heads should resemble a blunt wedge not a rectangle (brick shape), it spoils the elegance completely and seems to introduce a loose lip.
Veteran Dog: (4, 3 abs) 1. Sant Kreal Certero of Satinea (imp Rus). A 7 yr old big boy but well in proportion. Lovely dark eye, good angulation. He moved positively and soundly.
Minor Puppy Dog: (0)
Puppy Dog: (0)
Junior Dog: (1) 1. Otago the One and Only JW. Nice dark eye and tan to match. Good length of neck, good tuck up with correct top line sloping slightly from withers to croup. Head shape slightly on the heavy side. Reserve Best Dog.
Yearling Dog: (0)
Novice Dog: (1) 1. Arenite Break the Rules BT. Similar to winner of Junior Dog with slightly heavy head but lovely dark eye and tan. Good reach of neck and well developed fore chest. Topline and tail set correct. Front angulation not as good as other winners.
Undergraduate Dog: (1) 1 Arenite Break the Rules BT
Post Graduate Dog: (1) 1. Amazon Graffiti with Sealandair. Lovely make and shape. Good neck and fore chest and, with most today, lovely dark eye and tan. Positive mover.
Limit Dog: (6, 1 abs) 1. Late again Satisfaction JW. Lovely blunt wedge head, tan could be darker but eye colour good. Short coupled and moved really well. Best Dog and Reserve Best in Show. 2. Grafmax Alfie Boe JW. Again, short coupled and good make and shape. Head correct with a dark eye. Length of neck not quite as good as 1.
Open Dog: (1, 1 abs)
Veteran Bitch: (2, 1 abs) 1. Izralight Sugarbabe JW ShCM. A really lovely 7 yr old bitch, full of life and so moved with real purpose. Correct in most departments giving a lovely overall picture o& a good Dobermann. Being picky, she could have darker tan, a minor point. Best Bitch and Best in Show.
Minor Puppy Bitch: (0)
Puppy Bitch: (2) 1. Pursing Shines Like Stars. 10 months old and a very attractive puppy with correct dark eye and tan, lovely reach of neck and topline. Front and feet slightly better than 2.
2. Supetas Girl’s Got Rhythm for Debison. Another lovely young lady, brown this time. Nice head with head planes as per standard. Correct size and she moved well.
Junior Bitch: (2, 1 abs) 1. (2, 1 abs) Avamer Maple. 15 month old young lady it’s promising make and shape. Slightly long in loin but not longer than allowable for bitches. Good topline and tuck up.
Yearling Bitch: (2, 2 abs)
Novice Bitch: (0)
Undergraduate Bitch: (1, 1abs)
Post Graduate Bitch: (3). Arenite Born Gifty at Rocster. Nice head with correct blunt wedge shape. Good dark markings and eye. Tuck as per standard and generally very nice overall outline. Moved with purpose and true. Reserve Best Bitch
2. Aritaur Ginerosity. Also a very good bitch in make and shape that moved well. Slightly heavier in heads than 1.
3. Otago Solitaire
Limit Bitch: (4, 1 abs) 1. Izralight Firedancer JW ShCM. Daughter of my BIS who obviously passed on many of her good points. Proper wedge shaped head and correct heads planes, good dark eye. Outline lovely with good tuck up and topline. Tight feet. Moved the best of the three in this class.
2. Jojavik Camorra JW ShCM. Lovely head, squarer in outline than 1 but movement not quite so good in front.
3. Granadeya Val Veny at Pursang
Open Bitch: (3, 1 abs) 1. Ashlain Trypiti JW ShCM. Well made bitch overall with tight feet and dark tan. Lovely length of neck and slightly long in loin but, again, fully acceptable for a bitch. Move£ okay.
2. Jojavik Kissy Suzuki ShCM. Slightly more feminine bitch than 1 but did not move as well. Correct outline, make and shape.
